From cats and dogs to birds and donkeys, many Australian units adopted animal mascots during the First World War to keep soldiers’ spirits high and provide a temporary link to home.

In this webinar, hear from Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation President and author of Anzac Mascots Nigel Allsopp as he unpacks the stories behind these extraordinary animals. From how these animals were selected and why, to what happened after the war, join us for an exploration of these remarkable stories that honour the four-legged and feathered heroes who left an indelible mark on the annals of war.

This webinar serves as a prelude to the National Day for War Animals on February 24 and a poignant Last Post Service dedicated to honouring the invaluable role of animals in defence on February 25.
