Albert Jacka VC, Friday 3 September 12:30pm

At Courtney’s Post on the Turkish Gallipoli Peninsula in May 1915 Albert Jacka was awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery. Albert Jacka’s VC is currently on display at the Shrine as part of the exhibition This Company of Brave Men: the Gallipoli VCs.

Surviving Captivity in the Pacific War, Friday 10 September 12:30pm

More than 22,000 Australians were taken captive by the Japanese in 1941-42 in Singapore, Ambon, Rabaul, Timor, and Java. The publication of the POW diary kept by Bob Christie of the 2/29th Battalion AIF will be launched following this presentation.
