Corporate Information

The Shrine of Remembrance is established under the Shrine of Remembrance Act 1978 (Amended) and entrusted to the care of the Board of Trustees on behalf of the people of Victoria.

The Trustees are empowered to care for, maintain and preserve the Shrine and Shrine Reserve and to develop, promote, facilitate and organise educational activities, exhibitions and ceremonial activities in relation to the service of Australians in conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

These activities are carried out by the Shrine of Remembrance staff, led by the Chief Executive Officer and the Management Team and overseen by the following committees which report to Trustees:

Finance & Audit Committee

The Finance & Audit Committee provides a forum to consider and recommend to the Board of Trustees matters including:

  • Strategic & Business Plans
  • Financial Management
  • Fund Raising
  • Corporate Governance and Compliance

The Finance & Audit Committee includes independent members who meet the criteria for independence within the Shrine's Financial Management Compliance Framework.

Planning, Development and Public Education Committee

The Planning, Development and Public Education Committee provides a forum to consider and recommend to the Board of Trustees matters including:

  • Master Planning
  • Collection Policy
  • Education Strategy & Programming
  • Marketing Strategy
  • Conservation Management

Cermonial Committee

The Ceremonial Committee provides a forum to consider and recommend to the Board of Trustees matters including:

  • ANZAC Day
  • Remembrance Day
  • Wreath Laying Ceremonies
  • Ceremonial Policy

Remuneration Committee

The Remuneration Committee provides a forum to consider and recommend to the Board of Trustees matters including:

  • The effectiveness, inttegrity and compliance of remuneration policies & practices
  • Remuneration Policy & Strategy
